SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Three members of Savannah City Council are in Washington D.C. to participate in an event at the White House on jobs, transportation, infrastructure and immigration.

Because of their leadership positions with the National League of Cities, Savannah aldermen Edna Jackson, Van Johnson and Tony Thomas were invited to join other leaders from the NLC in a meeting with senior White House and Obama Administration officials on Thursday about pressing issues that U.S. cities face, according to the city of Savannah. They are expected to meet with President Obama during a reception on Thursday evening.

Jackson is a member of the NLC Board of Directors; Thomas is chairman of the NLC Leadership Training Council; and Johnson is vice chairman of the NLC Human Development Committee.
