EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - Yet another wreck at an intersection even the Effingham County Sheriff says is trouble.
It happened Thursday night at Georgia Highway 17 and Blue Jay Road.
The Effingham County Sheriff's Office says a car and an SUV collided causing one woman to become entrapped.
Deputies say the car didn't stop at the stop sign crossing over Highway 17 and drove into oncoming traffic.
They say the woman in the SUV was not wearing a seat belt and was tossed around inside the vehicle before they were able to free her.
Family members say the intersection has been dangerous for a long time.
"I couldn't believe there was another accident here. How many people have to get hurt or killed before the commissioners do something," Kyle Hartley said.
Sheriff's deputies say the intersection is known as a dangerous one with plenty of accidents in recent years.
"We just want people to slow down out here because it's a bad intersection. We're also patrolling the area monitoring speed," David Ehsanipoor with the Effingham County Sheriff's Office said.
Residents in the area say they would like to see a stop light or blinking light like the ones at other intersections.
The Sheriff's Office says everyone involved in the wreck should be okay.
