Streets closed along SSU Homecoming Parade route

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Some streets in downtown Savannah will be closed Saturday to parking and traffic for the Savannah State University Homecoming Parade.

Vehicles parked in the staging area and on the route after 7 a.m. Saturday will be towed at the owners' expense.

Staging the 300 units, 500 people and 15 floats expected to participate will begin at 7 a.m. on East Broad Street, according to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.

East Broad Street will be closed from East Gwinnett to East Liberty streets from 7 a.m. until the units have cleared the area. It starts at 9 a.m. and is expected to be finished by 1 p.m.

The parade begins at East Broad and Liberty streets, it goes north to Broughton Street, west to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and south to Anderson Street before turning west and finishing.
