Lowcountry students get creative with pumpkins

RIDGELAND, SC (WTOC) - Getting dressed up in costume, is just part of the fun for Halloween.

First graders at Thomas Heyward Academy really got creative dressing up and transforming pumpkins. With help from their families, students picked out a character from their favorite fairy tale or tall tale and decorated a pumpkin to resemble that character.

"They did a great job," said Evie Woods, 1st Grade Teacher. "We have a Dumbo, Rupenzel, Cinderella, Cinderella's stage coach."

As part of the project, students throughout the school donate money to vote for their favorite pumpkin. All of the money goes to the school's PTA.
