STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Fire trucks and ambulances surrounded a Statesboro preschool on Friday morning, but for a good cause.
City and county public safety officers hit the track for some racing as part of Bumblebees Preschool's Touch the Truck Day.
Youngsters met firefighters, sheriff's deputies and EMTs as part of a weeklong study on safety. Teachers hope students learn that the people in the noisy trucks are their friends if they're ever in a crisis.
"We want them to be familiar with these guys if something should ever happen to them they won't be scared to death and hiding from them," said Tiffany Patterson of Bumblebee's.
The Trike-a-Thon also helped raise money for St. Jude's Hospital.
