Savannah State students and alumni celebrate homecoming week

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Despite the chilly weather, Savannah State's homecoming kicked off with a big bang Saturday morning.

Bands and floats filled the streets of Savannah for the University's annual homecoming parade.

About 500 people participated in the parade plus there were many more on the sideline watching.

Christelle Bakatukanda says, "we had a blast and so many people in the city came out to give us so much support. I'm loving it. I'm enjoying it."

Eva Graham agreed, I'm glad it turned out to be a beautiful and happy day for everyone."

Overall, everyone thought it was a great event.

Trezur Davis says, "I though it was very nice. The crowd seemed pretty good and everyone was very live. It was cool!"

Savannah State took on Hampton University for their homecoming game.
