Meeting held to discuss ESPLOST

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Can a one cent penny sales tax continue to improve Savannah Chatham County Public Schools?

The NAACP and members of the Savannah Chatham County School board held a public meeting Sunday night to discuss ESPLOST and consider its extension.

"Through the last five years with the ESPLOST, we have built or renovated seven schools," said Dr. Joe Buck, Savannah Chatham Public School Board president. "We've been able to improve technology all across the district, safety and security, and we're asking the voters to go with us again and vote for an extension of that same tax."

Esplost will be on the ballot during the November 8th election.
