STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Four people were arrested Wednesday on drug charges after a search warrant was carried out on Cosmic Charlie's.
The Statesboro Police Department Crime Suppression Unit and Bulloch County Sheriff's Office Drug Suppression Team executed the search warrant at about 1:05 p.m. Wednesday.
The search was the result of an investigation that began in July 2010. The Crime Suppression Unit got a tip that Cosmic Charlie's was selling synthetic marijuana, also called K2 and spice, according to Statesboro police.
Other locations were investigated, but were found to be in compliance with state and federal laws and were not selling such substances, according to Statesboro police.
An estimated 2,900 packages of spice were seized and with 1,200 items of suspected drug paraphernalia. The estimated value of the spice is $58,000 and the approximate value of the drug paraphernalia is $42,000.
Nine bags of marijuana were seized that were packaged for distribution.
Frances Marie Kipf, 28, of Statesboro, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule I drug; conspiracy to distribute a schedule I drug.
Pamela Lynn Kipf Bodyford, 53, of Statesboro, was charged with sale of a schedule I drug; conspiracy to distribute a schedule I drug; sale of drug-related objects.
Brian Eric Thompson, 27, of Statesboro, was charged with sale of a schedule I drug; conspiracy to distribute a schedule I drug.
Joshua Brantley Waters, 23, of Swainsboro, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
They were taken to the Bulloch County jail to await court action. More charges and arrests are possible. The investigation continues.
