A man who barricaded himself inside his home in response to being served with foreclosure papers earlier Wednesday was taken into custody without incident, accoridng to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Just after 10 a.m. Wednesday, civil deputies responded to 70 Joe Capers Rd. to serve homeowner Thomas Collins, 63, with civil papers for foreclosure and eviction, according to the sheriff's office.
Collins refused to comply, instead making threats and retreating back into his home armed with a knife, according to the sheriff's office.
Members of the sheriff's office SWAT and Negotiations teams were at the scene to try to resolve the standoff.
Collins will be transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
