SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - It's here, Verizon's 4G LTE network.
The phone provider held a press conference to unveil the new network at the Westin. Thursday morning Otis Johnson and city leaders learned how the new 4G LTE network will impact Savannah's business community and contribute to economic progress in the hostess city.
Verizon customers with 4G devices will see speeds 10 times faster than on the 3G network. For example, an average size power point presentation will take you less than 25 seconds to upload onto the new network.
Verizon also presented Safe Shelter with a HopeLine grant of $10,000.
This grant is one of nine grants awarded, totaling $105,000, to organizations across the state in October.
"They have been good corporate citizens, because today they made a $10,000 contribution to Safe Shelter for violence prevention activities with Chatham County Youth Commission," said Mayor Otis Johnson.
The Chatham Area Youth Commission will use the money to host a teen dating violence prevention campaign.
