BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -
Beaufort Memorial Hospital has been awarded the Pathway to Excellence designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in recognition of it's nurse friendly work environment.
As part of the review process, the hospital's nurses were asked to respond to a confidential online survey about nursing practicing at the hospital. The hospital received an overall positive rating score of 90 percent from the nurses. Hospital officials say this translates into positive patient care.
"It means a great deal to patient care because it means patients can come by here and know nurses are honored for their commitments," said Karen Carroll, BMH Chief Nursing Officer. "We want their contributions and as a result that spills over into patient care. Patients have great outcomes as a result."
Beaufort Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in South Carolina to achieve this honor.
