Pin Point unveils historical marker

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A historical community that was settled by freed slaves in 1896 is celebrating its history and culture.

A marker dedication ceremony was held at Sweetfield of Eden Baptist Church in the community of Pin Point outside of Savannah.

In attendance was U.S. Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas, who was born and raised in Pin Point. Thomas spoke before a crowd at the church before the ceremony.

A processional walk to the Pin Point Museum immediately followed the ceremony.
