SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Virginia College in Savannah is hosting an open house to showcase its 53,000 square foot campus and ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday.
The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 14045 Abercorn St. in the Savannah Mall. The ribbon cutting is at 5:30 p.m.
Admissions counselors and instructors will be available to answer questions and give tours of classrooms, labs and medical areas.
Hors d'oeuvres and cocktails from Culinard, the Culinary Institute of Virginia College, will be served.
Virginia College has invested more than $5 million in renovations, furniture, fixtures and lab equipment for the new campus at the site of the former Steve and Barry's retailer, according to a news release.
Virginia College in Savannah began enrollment in 2011 and started classes in the new facility on June 29. The school expects to have an ongoing student population of 800 to 1,000 students.
An estimated 250 students will graduate each year in fields including business administration, cosmetology, culinary arts, healthcare reimbursement, medical assistant, medical office administration, medical billing and coding, medical assistant, office administration, pharmacy technician, surgical technologist and more, according to the release.
