LONG CO., GA (WTOC) -

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in the 2010 slaying of a Long County woman.

A hearing took place Tuesday morning in the murder case of Lori Arrowood for Kenneth Lumpkin, a former employee of the Liberty County Jail.

Lumpkin is charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and kidnapping in Arrowood's death.

Investigators say he kidnapped Arrowood in September 2010 from her home. Arrowood's husband  Nathon was a soldier deployed to Iraq at the time of the murder.

Lumpkin was a family friend who was among the hundreds who helped search for Arrowood while her husband was in Iraq.
