EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

A man on parole who was the target of a drug bust faces several charges after leading deputies on a high-speed chase early Wednesday morning, according to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office Drug Suppression Team got a tip about Mickey Joyner, 32, of Springfield.

"Drug agents received information, that early that morning - just before dawn - that he was going to be in the Effingham County area, picking up pseudoephedrine. And he was going to be taking it to another house to exchange it for meth," said David Ehsanipoor, public information officer with  the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.

When investigators saw Joyner pick up the pseudoephedrine, marked patrol vehicles tried to conduct an investigative stop. Joyner took off, speeding down Ga. 21 and Springfield Egypt Road, according to the sheriff's office. The chase ended after his car crashed into a tree.

Joyner was with unlawful possession of pseudoephedrine, possession of methamphetamine, fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Joyner was out on parole on charges of manufacturing meth.

He is being held in the Effingham County Jail.
