SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A class of Savannah Citizens' Academy graduated on Monday night.
This was the first Citizens' Academy to focus on Neighborhood Association Presidents.
Gloria Edwards; Barbara Robbins; Irene G. Hines; Kelse Palko; Rosa C. Davis; Janice Frazier; Courtney Eaton; Barbara Dickerson; and Virginia Taylor are members of the 2011 graduating class.
The group participating in a five-week program aimed becoming a better advocate for and leader for their neighborhoods. Classes included computers skills, parliamentary procedures, youth engagement, neighborhood watch, and community building.
Next Monday, 17 members of the Neighborhood Leadership Academy from Step-Up Savannah will graduate. Established and emerging leaders from across Savannah and Chatham County are trained as resources to improve social and economic conditions for Savannah residents.
