ST. HELENA ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - Lady's Island St. Helena firefighters battled a blaze aboard a shrimp boat on Thursday morning.
It broke out about 9 a.m. Thursday after owner Pete Pope was welding a something on the boat and it caught fire. He said he tried to put the fire out, but it spread so fast that he had to call the fire department.
The 60-foot-long boat called Four Girls was docked at the Gay Fish Co. dock on St Helena Island.
Firefighters battled winds and could only fight the fire from one side. They used another shrimp boat to fight it from the other side.
