SEA ISLAND, GA (WTOC) - The Sea Island Bakery constructed a life-sized gingerbread house.
The preparation has been going on since Nov. 26. Assembly started Dec. 3 in the Sea Island solarium.
The recipe has been adapted for the mild climate to create the 3,000 pieces of gingerbread bricks that the pastry team will use to build the exterior of the house, according to a news release.
The display will be covered entirely with gingerbread. It will include a range of candy, chocolate and other edible decor. It will also feature a working train set around the tree.
Breakfast pastries, cookies, hot apple cider and more will be available inside the house, and Santa will be making weekly appearances.
A tree lighting ceremony took place at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 4 inside the house at Sea Island.
