One Victim Has Died in Savannah Double Shooting

An argument between neighbors on Savannah's east side, resulted in the shooting of two brothers, has turned deadly. Savannah-Chatham police were called to the 1800 block of Holly Avenue about 10:30am yesterday morning. When officers arrived, they found Tyrone and James Cotton both suffering from gunshot wounds. Police say they had been shot by Aljanon Alvin.

Both victims were rushed to Memorial Health for treatment, and at the time police thought the wounds were not life-threatening. But about 4:30pm yesterday afternoon, police were notified James Cotton had died of his wounds during surgery.

Before he died, Cotton was able to tell police that the 37-year-old Alvin was responsible for shooting him and his brother.

A short time after the shootings, officers arrested Alvin in the area. He is in the Chatham County jail this morning. Police say he will face murder and aggravated assault charges.

Tyrone Cotton has been treated and released.
