A Parris Island Marine is being honored for his service in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Today the Marine Corps awarded Maj. Rick Pugliese the Bronze Star with Combat Valor for his leadership during the war. It's a very prestigious award: only 125 Marines out of the 67,000 attached to the First Marine Expeditionary Force were awarded the Bronze Star for their service in Iraq.
"I'm humbled because I think these Marines I went to war with actually deserve the award, not so much me," Maj. Pugliese said.
While under direct fire, the major rallied his men and led the attack to seize the Iraqi police headquarters and United Nations compound.
