Saxon selected for promotion to Senior Master Sergeant

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

News release from Dept. of the Air Force Headquarters, Combat Readiness Training Center, Savannah:

Master Sergeant Jeffery P. Saxon has earned promotion to the senior non-commissioned officer's rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8).  SMSgt Jeffery P. Saxon serves as the Fuels Management Flight Superintendent for the 165th Airlift Wing, Georgia Air National Guard in Garden City, Georgia.  The 165th AW is headquartered across the airfield from the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport. 

SMSgt Saxon initially enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1978.  Upon completion of Basic Military Training, he attended Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Fuels) School at Lakehurst, NJ.  While on active duty, SMSgt Saxon was assigned to V-4 Division, Air Department on board the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN-69.  After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, he elected to continue serving his country by joining the Air National Guard.  During his tenure in the 165th AW, SMSgt Saxon's conspicuous service has included tenure as the Bulk Storage Supervisor, Cryogenics Supervisor, Quality Control Supervisor, Compliance Supervisor, and the Training Supervisor within the Fuels Management Flight, and was recently selected as the Superintendent of the Fuels Management Flight.

    Memorial Day weekend is in full effect, which means that law enforcement is out in full force. The Department of Natural Resources is also stressing safety throughout the weekend.  Officers say that they'll be cracking down on the usual charges, such as those not wearing seatbelts, or drinking and driving.
