SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Chatham Area Transit has made changes to its schedules and routes in response to customer concerns, according to the agency.
The changes including adding trips to some routes, changing schedule times and moving and adding new bus stops.
CAT has made these service changes, according to a CAT news release:
2 West Chatham – A trip was added on Saturdays. It leaves at 2:30 p.m. from Broughton Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard going to the airport. It leaves the airport at 3:23 p.m. for downtown Savannah.
3B Augusta Avenue – A trip was added on weekdays. It leaves from Broughton and Montgomery streets at 11:35 p.m. It will only provide service to Cloverdale and Carver Heights upon request. It leaves from 3rd and Minus streets at 12:05 a.m. for downtown Savannah.
10 East Savannah – The first trip to downtown on weekdays and Saturdays begins at Gregory at Riverview Dr. at 5:45 a.m. A bus will also leave from Broughton Street at 10:30 p.m. to Georgia at Bonaventure Road.
14 Abercorn – Outbound service to the Rose of Sharon Apts. are weekdays at 9:12 a.m., 11:42 a.m., 1:42 p.m. and 5:42 p.m. Inbound trips leaving Walmart at Montgomery Cross Road at 1p.m., 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6:32 p.m. will also serve Rose of Sharon Apts.
A new bus stop has been installed on Abercorn in front of the JEA for service outbound on the 14.
14 Abercorn Local & 114 Express – The bus stop that was used to be at Holland and Abercorn has been moved back to Savannah Toyota for safety purposes.
114 Abercorn Express – This route now includes Janet Drive on Abercorn on outbound trips.
Another trip has been added on weekdays. It leaves downtown at 6:25 p.m. and departs from Savannah Mall at 7:18 p.m.
Timetables have been amended to ensure that the 114 arrives after the 14 local at the Oglethorpe Mall for smoother transfers, according to the news release.
28 Waters Avenue – The Saturday 6:05 a.m. bus leaving Broughton Street at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard only serves Hodgson Memorial on the outbound trip. It departs from Walmart at 7:03 a.m. It takes Montgomery Cross Road to Waters Avenue and then goes downtown.
Bicycles – When the bike rack is full, an additional bike may be brought onto the bus and secured in the wheelchair area with its owner if that space is available.
