Savannah is hosting visitors from all over the world this week as various countries prepare for the G-8 summit. Fourteen members of the Russian delegation are visiting the Hostess City today. This morning they got a tour of the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center to learn about the facilities and they're staying in the same hotels where they'll be staying during the summit.
Delegations have been visiting all week and say they're impressed with the facilities. "Yesterday with the French, they say they wish they had some place this nice for when they hosted it last year, they had to convert a high school gymnasium to a media center, so they love it here," said the summit's communications director Barry Bennett.
The British delegation will be here tomorrow. These groups are just the first wave of G-8 visitors. More are expected in the coming weeks.
