SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The owners of Gaslight Group in Savannah were honored as Small Business of the Year on Wednesday, Dec. 14. Brian and Jennifer Huskey were honored by the Small Business Assistance Corporation with the 2011 Rising Star Award. The award was handed out during SBAC's annual luncheon. Gaslight Group is made up of four prominent Savannah hospitality venues.
"The SBAC was a crucial factor when we started out in 2006 with B. Matthew's Eatery, which has grown now to be our "flagship" and is known well outside Savannah by foodies and visitors alike", said Jennifer Huskey, co-owner of the Gaslight Group upon receiving the award, according to a press release." We are very proud and humbled to be chosen by the SBAC for something we love to do on a daily base, and which is our passion."
The Huskey's have opened three more venues since they started in 2006 named Blowin' Smoke BBQ, Abe's on Lincoln and the Blue Turtle Bistro. They are adding an expansion adjacent to the Blue Turtle Bistro in 2012, which will call for a coffee house and bakery.
"Savannah, its residents and visitors have been very good to us", said Brian Huskey according to a press release. "It allowed us to foster and grow with our concept and the community has supported us all along the way."
