SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Families staying at the Savannah Safe Shelter were hit hard last month after thousands of gallons of water from a sprinkler pipe flooded the shelter.
Those same families got Christmas a few days early. A storage container full of Christmas gifts was delivered on Monday afternoon. Many of the families arrived at the shelter just with the clothes on their backs.
The Savannah Board of Realtors adopted 18 families from the Safe Shelter to make this Christmas one to remember.
"It just goes to show how loving and generous they are they see a crisis and respond immediately with open arms and open hearts," said Toni Marwitz, of Safe Shelter.
