Mother charged with attempted murder denied bond

BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - A Beaufort mother charged with attempted murder appeared in court Tuesday and was denied bond.

A toddler was discovered severely injured Monday night at a Beaufort apartment complex.

Beaufort police said the injuries to the child were intentional.

Police responded at about 10:25 p.m. Monday to a unit at Cross Creek Apartments at 325 Ambrose Run on a report that a child fell off a balcony at an apartment.

The officer found a toddler with severe injuries consistent from a fall and other injuries, according to a police news release. The child was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and then to MUSC for advanced medical treatment.

Shayla Jerea Bryan, 22, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
