SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A ceremony on Tuesday afternoon marked the beginning of construction of the Tatemville Sound Wall along DeRenne Avenue.
The project is expected to take up to nine months. It involves installing a 1,400 feet of a 10-foot walk, signage, striping and guardrail.
"This is a long awaited projected for the people in Tatemville community. From what I can understand, this condition's existed here for over 50 years," said District 5 Alderman Clifton Jones Jr.
It's the first construction project associated with the Project DeRenne process, according to the city.
