SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A nasty car crash Sunday night on the Talmadge Bridge left many questions with investigators and the tow truck driver who took the vehicle from the scene.
The driver and passenger of the car have yet to be found. Witnesses said the male driver and his female passenger were seen running from the car down the bridge.
Tow truck driver Kirk Walker said shell casings were on the ground near the car along with what he believed were drugs.
On Monday night while watching WTOC-TV, Walker said he saw a news report about a double homicide in Ridgeland, S.C. Walker said he then immediately called police.
"Something clicked in my head because we do inventories when we get them back to the yards, and there were pictures in a black book in the car," he said. "The girl in the picture looked like the girl on TV, so I started making phone calls. That's when I called Ridgeland police."
Ridgeland police told Walker they would be coming out Tuesday to check out the car and what he found to see if it is a link to the murders in Ridgeland.
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police still are not saying who they may be looking for in connection with the crash.
