10 nominees considered for county court

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Ten lawyers are in the running for the bench on the Chatham County Superior Court when Chief Judge Perry Brannen Jr. moves to senior status at the first of the year.

According to the Georgia Judicial Nominating Commission, the list includes Georgia Legal Services Attorney Wanda Andrews; Chatham County Magistrate Court Judge Michael Barker; attorneys Jimmy Blackburn Jr. and Tony Center; Assistant Chatham County Attorney Lisa G. Colbert ; J. Hamrick Gnann Jr.,  a municipal judge in Pooler; State Court Judge Pro Tem Attorney Peter Muller; Assistant Atlantic Judicial District District Attorney and former Chatham County Assistant District Attorney Isabel Pauley; Chatham County Recorder's Court Judge Tammy Stokes and  attorney Timothy Walmsley.

The commission is scheduled to interview the nominees on Jan. 10 or 11, and submit up to five top candidates for Gov. Nathan Deal to consider.
