Midway meth lab busted

MIDWAY, GA (WTOC) - Two people have been arrested after a methamphetamine lab was busted in Midway.

It happened just off of C.C. Jones Street. Deputies were checking a house nearby and decided to knock on the door of the suspects' place.

Authorities said that's when Jason Finch ran outside with a one-bottle meth cook and put it in the trunk of a car. Finch and his and his girlfriend April O'Neal were arrested.

O'Neal's boys, ages 1 and 3 were inside the residence.

"It alarms me, but it doesn't surprise me. That stuff happens where most households where the parents are suffering from an addiction, usually the addiction becomes the primary focus, not the kids," said Capt. Chris Reed, of the drug task force.

O'Neal and Finch face meth charges and child cruelty charges. They remain in the Liberty County Jail.

The children were checked out by medics and taken to a family member's house.
