Cookie company donates to help sick kids

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A longtime local cookie company gives a sweet gift to help sick children in Savannah.

Byrd Cookie Co. presented a check on Thursday morning to the Next Generation. The check wasn't a surprise, but the $2,500 amount sure was one to the recipients.

The Next Generation is a volunteer organization that provides a variety of programs benefitting the children's hospital at Memorial University Medical Center.

"We really believe in what they're doing in the community and for the sick children and really making the holidays a little bit brighter but their every days a little bit brighter," said Geoff Repella, president of the Byrd Cookie Co.

Next Generation plans to use the money to decorate the pediatric units in the hospital.
