Second Harvest gets soup donation

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia received the huge donation of soup broth from Kerry's Ingredients and Flavors.

The 600,000 pounds of soup will mainly be used in the food bank's culinary arts program at Grace Kitchen in preparation for a Kid's Cafe site. The distribution center is thankful for the donation, which helps further its mission.

"We are that safety net. We are here to be that safety net for the families and the people who are struggling to get by," said Mary Jane Crouch, director of Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia.

Second Harvest has distributed more than 8 million pounds of food in the last year to people in need.
