Teen to be charged as adult in sex assault cases

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A 16 year old accused of rape and other charges in four cases appeared before a judge on Saturday.

Ramon Terrill Lewis, 16, is charged with rape, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery and two counts of burglary.

His cases were transferred to Chatham County Superior Court so he can be charged as an adult, according to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Special Victims Unit, Violent Crimes Detectives and the U.S. Marshals arrested Lewis in the area of the attacks on Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday night, a woman told police that a young male broke into her house and pushed her down before demanding sex. He left when she began fighting him off.

Police said their investigation has linked Lewis to three other similar cases.

On Nov. 23, a woman told police that she was dragged into her own home by a young male who was also grabbing under her robe. She fought back and suspect ran out the same door he had entered.

On Dec. 1, a woman told police that a male of the same description went into her home looking for a woman who lived there, according to SCMPD. She told him the woman wasn't home, he tried to overpower her and pull at her clothing until she screamed for her boyfriend, according to police. He then ran from the house.

On Dec. 13, a woman told police that a young man she recognized in the area forced his way into her house and sexually attacked her. Police said the suspect had cut the screen on her door to unlatch it to get inside.

Police connected those cases and two other similar cases on Thursday after they questioned the suspect. Police had been investigating the cases up until then, but had not been able to positively connect them until after the interview.

Violent Crimes and Special Victims Unit detectives continue to investigate the cases.

Those with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 912.234.2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include "CStop2020" plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
