SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Step Up Savannah has been awarded a three-year grant from the Kresge Foundation that aims to strengthen its efforts to reduce poverty with better planning, coordination, and evaluation tools, according to the organization.
An estimated $100,000 of the grant will be used to fund technical assistance and training to Step Up partner organizations to improve services to those families most in need.
Step Up will start with working on the Centers for Working Families, a network of neighborhood-based direct service providers serving low-income families. Staff from each participating partner organization will receive training.
The partners will then create a detailed work plan to set goals and strategies. The network will identify and then agree upon specific, measureable goals aimed at reducing poverty, such as GED rates.
