BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

A Bulloch County man, his wife and two children were killed Wednesday morning in a house fire.

Bulloch County sheriff's deputies and firefighters were called at about 4:54 a.m. to a home at 723 Stilson Rd. in southeast Bulloch County.

Fire crews discovered the bodies of Edmund Russell Davis, 56; Mary Wendi Davis, 55; Susannah Maxine Davis, 19; Haley Morea Davis, 17, inside the home, according to the BCSO.

Neighbors told WTOC's Sharisse Thompson that Haley was a junior at Southeast Bulloch High School and was involved in the band. and that Susannah was a student at the University of Georgia. Neighbors said the tightknit family was very involved with the high school band and at their church.

Sheriff's office investigators, including a crime scene technician, and an investigator with the Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office were called to the scene to begin a death investigation, according to the sheriff's office. The home has since been blocked off with crime scene tape.

Family members identified the victims. The bodies were transferred to the Bulloch County coroner so they can be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's coastal regional lab for an autopsy. This is standard sheriff's office procedure for fire deaths, according to the BCSO.

The cause and manner of death are pending a determination from the medical examiner. A state fire marshal's office investigator is looking at the what caused the blaze.
