EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -
The Effingham County Sheriff's Office is asking folks in the South Effingham Middle and High School area to be on the lookout for a suspicious vehicle that may be in area neighborhoods.
Last week, a report regarding a white van parked on Hester Road was filed with ECSO. The van was occupied by an older, balding, white male with some gray hair in his 50's or 60's. The van is utility style with no markings on the exterior. It is also described as having a "loud" engine.
Four children between the ages of 12 and 17 were riding a golf cart in the neighborhood when they say the occupant attempted to lure them to his van. They also reported that the man followed them to a residence and asked them why they "didn't want this." The van fled the area after an adult came outside.
This is an isolated incident but the ECSO is asking citizens to report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
