More than 50 years after the Korean War, a Savannah man is finally being recognized for his service. This afternoon at the VA primary care clinic, Cpl. Frank Mack received two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Medal and the United States Service Medal for bravery during the war.

Cpl. Mack saw combat at Pork Chop Hill, Heartbreak Ridge and Mount Baldy, and was wounded twice during battle.

"Being in the Korean War and seeing how things are overseas, America is one of the greatest places in the world to live and I wouldn't give America up for anything in the world," he said.

Mack says he's not bitter it took so long for him to get his medals. He says they'll be something his children can look at in the years to come.
