HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) - The city of Hinesville inaugurated their elected leaders in a ceremony Thursday.
Re-elected incumbent Mayor Jim Thomas Jr. and City Council members were sworn into office in council chambers.
The ceremony included a presentation of colors, oaths of office and remarks from the mayor. Council members say they are ready to hit the ground running.
"What we're doing right now is a great thing. all of the things that we do. All of our efforts are not in vain. But we do appreciate that and just looking forward to another great four years," said Mayor Pro Tem Charles Fraiser.
The race for Hinesville mayor was one of the biggest elections outside the metro area. Thomas faced two challengers Billy Kitchings and Tyrone Adams, but he won outright with 54 percent of the vote. No runoff was needed.
