Funeral services held for Davis family

BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

Funeral services were held for the Davis family killed in an early-morning house fire.

Over 1,000 classmates, friends and members of the community attended services at the First Baptist Church in Statesboro on Dec. 31.

Russell and Wendi Davis, and their two daughters, Susanna, 19, and Haley, 17, were killed when their home caught fire on Stilson Road on Dec. 28.

"It still hasn't sunk in yet. I can't imagine not seeing the family. They were so kind and it's really been hard for everyone," says classmate Ashley Jarriel.

Susanna and Haley both played in the Southeast Bulloch High School band and Wendi Davis worked as a substitute teacher at the school. Susanna graduated from Southeast Bulloch in 2010 and was voted Homecoming Queen. She was visiting home from college when the fire broke out.

"I can tell there is a big hole already and it's sad that this happened," says classmate Miranda Price.

The state fire marshal is ruling the cause of the fire accidental, but is still not sure how the fatal fire started.
