Meeting set for stucco class action lawsuit

Posted: Updated:
SUN CITY, SC (WTOC) -

A lawsuit against improper stucco work in Sun City that started with just one unhappy homeowner could affect thousands.

The story from the WTOC bureau at the Island Packet Beaufort Gazette reports that a state judge has granted class action status to the suit originally filed by Anthony and Barbara Grazia against South Carolina State plastering, but they turned around and filed a third party complaint naming the community's developer, a home builder and an architect as being responsible for some or all of the damage.

A circuit court judge said that more than 4,000 homes built between 1998 and July 2007 could be affected by water damage, mold and rot.

The lawyers handling the case are holding an informational meeting for Sun City residents at 6 p.m. Jan. 26 at Bluffton High School.

It is open to any stucco homeowner.
