10,000 Hotel Rooms Needed for G-8

Are you ready for the G-8 summit? The planning continues. Today, Congressman Jack Kingston (R-GA Dist 1) met with Savannah mayor Otis Johnson and G-8 officials to talk about hotel rooms, specifically how many the summit will need in June for everyone from dignitaries to media and protestors. They estimate they'll need 10,000, but will they fill them all?

"What Mayor Johnson and I are concerned about it that people have told us that they have rooms that are being held on reservation, and yet there is not a commitment from the G-8 to fill those rooms," said Kingston.

The actual summit is on Sea Island, but Savannah's International Trade and Convention Center is the media headquarters. They expect thousands of journalists from around the world filing reports from Hutchinson Island.
