BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -
The University of South Carolina Beaufort has made great leaps over the years adding new degree programs and many more students.
Their hard work is paying off not only for students but the entire area as well.
Thursday, officials released results from an economic impact study. According to that study, USCB pumps in more than $74 million into the local economy each year as well as more than a thousand jobs.
USCB officials say they are excited about the results.
"It really speaks to the return on the investment that the county and this region made in USCB to become baccalaureate," said USCB Chancellor Jane Upshaw.
USCB Officials and lowcountry business leaders also took part in a special panel discussion as well, looking at ways the University can help the region move forward in the future.
