The Jasper County School District has changed its school calendar to include these early release days: Feb. 9, Feb. 23, March 8, March 29 and May 31.
April 26 and May 10 were originally listed as early release dates, but have been deleted and designated for preparation for HSAP and other assessment testing.
These early release dates were added to so teachers could have more professional development time as requested by the state's department of education, according to the school district.
Both Hardeeville and Ridgeland kindergarten through 12th grade school students will get out of class at 11:30 a.m. on these days.
The district will implement the Alert Phone System, send out letters to parents, and update the district's website about the changes to the Early Release Day Schedule.
Schools will prepare Early Release Learning Packets that will include: computer websites, activity sheets, books to read, vocabulary practice and math games.
