SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are asking for witnesses to step forward in a fatal crash that killed a 1-month-old boy on Monday night on Interstate 516.

Natasha Tanika Thomas, 29, was driving a silver 2001 GMC Jimmy eastbound on I-516 about 11:15 p.m. Monday.

Thomas lost control of the SUV, hit and flipped over a guard rail on the right side of the highway inside the exit ramp to Veterans Parkway and flipped several times before ending up in a ravine, according to police.

Police said Thomas called 911 at 11:16 p.m. saying she had been hit by another car and that her SUV had overturned and had children inside it. Officers from the SCMPD Major Accident Investigation Team are trying to confirm this.

Thomas, Eric Goodwin, 1-month-old, and Na' Chelle Thomas, 5; all of a Simken Avenue address; and Na' Erykah Goodwin, 10; of Garden City, were taken to Memorial University Medical Center.

Eric Goodwin was ejected from the 2001 GMC Jimmy and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to SCMPD. Na' Chelle and Na' Erykah had serious injuries, but are in stable condition.

The SCMPD Major Accident Investigation Team is asking anyone who may have seen the crash to call Traffic Investigation at 912.525.2421 or call CrimeStoppers at 912.234.2020 or text CRIMES (274637). Tipsters to CrimeStoppers remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
