Area Nursing Programs Recruiting Men

Are you man enough to be a nurse? The Coastal Georgia Nursing Consortium is asking, trying to recruit more people into the profession. There aren't enough nurses, and the shortage is almost critical. Armstrong Atlantic State University and other area colleges and universities are teaming up with the hospitals to get people in to the nursing programs, particularly men.

"Men's perception...of the profession that it's not really for them, so we need to focus on that and get that message out so that men will understand what a great opportunity it is," said AASU dean Barry Eckert.

There will be a recruitment meeting Monday, March 1, at 7pm at Savannah's Hyatt Regency.
