Voting officials were busy today at Chatham County's Board of Elections. Voters are already casting their ballots, getting an early start on next Tuesday's presidential primary. A new law passed last year allows Georgia residents to vote during the week leading up to an election. Previously, you had to state a legitimate reason to vote early. Now you don't need one.
Early voting is a great option for anyone who can't make it to the polls on election day. "Any voter who's registered to vote in Chatham County can come to our office at 415 West Broughton Street and vote an absentee without giving a reason," explained voter registration director Sandra Williams.
The last day to vote early is Friday. The voter registration office is open until 5pm every evening this week.
