Abidjan Davis of Johnson is the WTOC Boys player of the week. Davis led the Atom Smashers to Region 3-AAAAA wins over Windsor Forest, Beach and Savannah High.

He had 22 points in Saturday's win over the Blue Jackets including a miraculous shot at the end of the first half that put the Smashers up by 6 points. "That was supposed to be an "and one" but they didn't call it," said Davis. "It was like a "horse" shot, just messing around. I was going to pump fake him but he never jump up so I just had to shoot it before the clock ran out."

Atom Smashers' head coach, Marty Holder, added, "I've had the pleasure of having Abidjan for three years now. He's been a defensive stopper since I've had him his sophomore year. His offense has come of late. Last year he had a pretty good year. This year has really become a break out year for him and we're really proud of the effort he's given the team."

Davis says that the opposing defense determines which player on the team will have to carry the scoring load. "I like to get my team involved. The bigs involved first. When you get the bigs involved it opens up the perimeter or to drive through the lane and dish it out for dunks." "People look for his offense," said Holder. "He's an amazing shooter and they have to come out on him. When they come out on him it opens the floor up for those other players."

His friends call Abidjan, Keme. So, which does he prefer? "At 8:30 I prefer Keme Davis but normally, just call me Abidjan."

Tuesday night, the Smashers will host Groves.
