RICEBORO, GA (WTOC) -

A paper plant in Riceboro should be back to normal operations in two days, according to a representative or RB Lumber LLC.

The kinl No. 1 at the plant caught fire early Tuesday morning. Crews faced challenges trying to put out the fire because the roof of the structure had collapsed and water had to be brought in to fight the fire.

Fire crews then had to wait for an excavator in order to remove the collapsed roof.

Employees of RB Lumber LLC first noticed the fire at 6:15 a.m. Monday. Employees spent nearly 40 minutes trying to put out the blaze until fire crews were called to the scene.

The Liberty County fire coordinator said this is the third fire at the kinl over the past six years. But this is the biggest one yet.

The plant is operating, but will be fully functional since they are using a different kinl to compensate for the burned one, according to the company.
