SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Savannah Black Heritage Festival continued Friday with a perform by the Ballethnic Dance Group. It is a ballet with jazz, a pretty interesting combination. With performances like these, the festival aims to give everyone a chance to appreciate all the contributions of African Americans.

"We just fell that we are offering the community an opportunity to just have so much exposure and discover and sometimes just go on and appreciate the different kinds of contributions that African Americans have made and are still making," said Shirley James, Savannah Black Heritage Festival coordinator.

The Black Heritage Festival also announced that former mayor Otis Johnson, Dr. Walter Evans, Mrs. Janie Fowles, and posthumously, John Saxon "Piccolo" Pierce are this year's honorees.
