Police investigate meat theft

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating a strange theft that recently took place at a lowcountry convenience store. The thieves were not interested in taking money, just meat.

It happened at the Sandalwood Community Food Pantry on Hilton Head Island sometime between Jan. 31 and Feb. 3. They say someone took about $200 worth of frozen beef from the store and caused another $100 in damage to the freezer door.
